dusted off the max motos

so, ive been slacking for the last month. the sportband died and wouldn't charge, so fleetfeet swapped it out with no hassle.  stacie's been playacting since the beginning of september, which i will use an excuse for not running.  (truth is, i could have gotten my big behind out of bed early when it was cool, or roast during lunch...but isn't it easier to just blame someone else?)   

coach used to say that if your slacking now, you won't be able to hide it when its time to perform. i trust that's the gospel.  at any rate, the half marathon is a week from saturday. i got in 5k today during lunch today, even though the ipod and the shuffle were dead, the peace and quit were nice.  i wont be buring it up come race day, but i expect to finish within the allotted time period.  victory is relative. 

i figure i have a few weeks of pleasant weather for running at lunch will trying to turn over a new leaf, brown bagging after-run lunch instead of eating out.   a friend of mine even texted me this morning saying he had packed his lunch and suggested i pack mine.  we were supposed to meet at the cairo at 12:30.  turns out, he decided to cave and go to martins.  J-U-S-T P-L-A-I-N S-O-R-R-Y.  thats all i can say about that.  at any rate, today i took my mid-day meal at the top of fort hill.   

I also signed up for the bricks and spokes 10 miler fun ride on saturday.  i hope in an 8-10 mile run early and then head downtown for the bike ride for the 8 o'clock start.  i've been told by ride officials (kim and rodger) that the 10 miler is up business 61 and fairly flat.  i guess we'll find out.
